Looking for Manby

Some 50cm narrow gauge railway fans were questioning about the “Manby” advertisements that once adornated the roof of the toastrack trailers in use on the Paris Little Train of the Jardin d’Acclimatation (see here for more about this miniature railway: http://www.fdelaitre.com/Ja.htm ).

Manby was a cloth store dedicated to youngsters. The shop had multiple premises in Paris and Lille, but the closest ones to the Jardin d’Acclimatation were located on 2, Chaussée de la Muette and 14, avenue Victor Hugo in the poshy XVIth arrondissement. The ads disappeared, probably altogether with the store, at the end of the 1970s.
